Ah, Paris. The city of love, fashion, and baguettes. Home to the most famous landmark in Europe and arguably the best museum in the world, Paris dazzles, even to those who would beg to differ. If you haven’t been to Paris, then it’s time you find your way there. This cosmopolitan city has something for everyone. And with thousands of flights landing in Paris daily from all regions of Europe, there’s no excuse not to take a weekend and see the city.

The most impressive collection of art, artefacts, jewellery, and everything in between, it would take you months to make your way around the entire museum. But for those on a time crunch, spending a day or half-day at the museum will do just fine. I highly recommend buying your ticket in advance, and study up on what’s on at the museum. This will give you more time to see the one and only, Mona Lisa masterpiece.

You can’t go to Paris and not visit the Eiffel Tower. It’s in the middle of the city and no matter where you go, you will see it, rising high above the rest. The best part about the world-famous landmark is the park nearby. Grab a picnic, bottle of vino, and a friend and soak in the sights. People watching is definitely a sport here, and you will not be disappointed. If you can’t get over to the Eiffel Tower for a picnic, make sure you get there at night. The tower lights up like the Vegas Strip, dazzling every visitor with its impressive light show.

The river that flows right through the centre of the city is not only a waterway, but it’s a destination in its own right. River cruises allow you to see a good chunk of the city in a short amount of time, and if you only have a weekend to visit, it’s a great tourist attraction to check out. There are daily cruises that stop by popular landmarks like the Notre Dame cathedral and of course the Eiffel Tower. For the ultimate scenic ride, take a dinner cruise along the Seine and see the city lit up at night. Oh la la is right.

The famous artist neighbourhood which was home to the likes of Picasso, Van Gogh, Dali, is one of the best places to visit in Paris. At the top of the hill is the Sacre Coeur, the famous all-white basilica at the top. Below in the streets are artists drawing in the streets, markets, and the best nightlife in the city. It’s also home to the red-light district of Paris where the uber famous Moulin Rouge venue is located.

40 minutes by train from Paris is the exquisite Palace of Versailles. Home to Louis XIV and built back in the 1600’s, this palace is not only a famous building, but a step back in time during the Absolute Monarchy. The palace is enormous, comprised of four buildings and houses the Hall of Mirrors, the most famous area of the entire building. With ornate furnishings, gold-plated everything, it was the most expensive building ever constructed. But the palace isn’t the only impressive landmark on the property. The gardens of Versailles have been relatively the same since created, and are beautiful, unreal, and intricate. See for yourself and see why it’s hard to explain just how magical Versailles really is.
