Oita is one of three rugby venues located on the island of Kyushu. A great venue for rugby but also to experience hot springs & see or bathe with Japanese Macaque monkeys (snow monkeys). Formerly known as the Kyushu Oil Dome the Oita Bank Dome is a 40,000 seater stadium built in 2001 for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Designed by famous architect Kisho Kurokawa it has the largest retractable dome in Japan. From Tokyo to Oita takes less than 2 hours by plane with an additional 1 hr journey by bus to Oita Station. The stadium is a further 7km journey by shuttle bus.
