It has been revealed that 2010 was the safest year on record for air travel according to the IATA (International Air Travel Association).
Just one accident reported for every 1.6 million flights (in 2010 there were 17 accidents compared to 19 in 2009). Although, it doesn’t go on to categorize what it determines as an ‘accident’ and also that only refers to traveling in Western-built jets. Still, it sounds like an impressive record to us.
The IATA director-general Giovanni Bisignani said the target is to get it to zero.
And remember, even if you land safely things can still go wrong when you’re overseas, so it always makes sense to pack a world phone, in case of a emergency!
