Cerro Aconcagua

Located in Mendoza province, Cerro Aconcagua is the largest peak in South America. It sits higher than the entire Andes range, crossing between both Argentina and Chile.

The peak itself still presents a formidable challenge to climbers, who must take at least two weeks to acclimatize to conditions before attempting to ascend to the summit.

Mount Everest

Standing at 8,848 metres above sea level, Mount Everest is the world’s highest peak.

Experienced mountaineers and other capable climbers use the North ridge and South East ridge as typical routes to the summit. However, many challenges still await them such as altitude sickness, unpredictable weather and strong wind.

Also known as the Savage Mountain, K2 is the second highest mountain on earth and probably the most dangerous, it records the second-highest fatality rate.

K2 is part of the Karakoram Range and is located in Pakistan. Climbers have the choice of a number of routes, of somewhat different character, but they all share some key difficulties – lack of oxygen, frequent and long lasting storms and the steep and exposed nature of the routes.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is made up of three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, and is itself a dormant volcano. It’s also the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 metres above sea level. Kibo, its highest peak currently lies dormant, with the last eruption happing between 150,000 – 200,000 years ago.

Popular with trekking there are a number of routes to take. Macheme, is by far the most scenic offering some stunning views of Africa.

Mount Cook

Also know as Aoraki Mount Cook, located in Mount Cook National Park, this is New Zealand’s highest mountain, its peak is 3,754 meters above sea level.

Mount Cook makes up the famous Southern Alps, with over 27 peaks measured at over 3,050 meters. It’s a popular choice for campers, backpackers, climbers and hikers because of its nature and scenery.
